One Further Invitation

Before You Continue to the Film

Now, this page is not here by accident.

You are seeing it because you have just chosen to watch DeINCEPTION: The Great Aha! What Is Happiness?

And that matters.

Because the film is not really about happiness in the light, easy, greeting-card sense of the word.

It is about the idea of happiness that sits underneath a life.

The idea of happiness that tells us what to chase.

What to fear.

What to admire.

What to sacrifice for.

What to call success.

What to call failure.

What to do with our days.

And most of the time, we do not examine this idea. We simply live from it.

So before you continue to the film, I want to ask you something.

If this question is important enough to watch, is it important enough to work through?

The One-Time Invitation

The Film Opens the Question. iLifeChange Takes It Into Practice.

DeINCEPTION asks a very simple question.

What is happiness?

But as simple as this question sounds, it is not small.

Because if our answer to that question is wrong, then our whole life can be well organised in the wrong direction.

The iLifeChange Experiment is a 40-day process for examining the happiness-map beneath your choices.

Not merely what you say you value. But what your life keeps showing you that you value.

For 40 days, we work one day at a time with the ideas, desires, images and habits of mind that shape how we are motivated.

Video 2 — What iLifeChange is and how the 40-day process works

What It Is

A 40-Day Experiment for Re-Ordering the Motives Beneath Your Choices

All human performance depends on how we are motivated.

That may sound obvious, but it is one of those obvious facts that we often pass over too quickly.

Motivation is not just having energy. It is not just being inspired. It is not just feeling excited for a few days and then hoping this time the feeling will last.

Motivation has a structure.

It is connected to what we see as good. It is connected to what we imagine as possible. It is connected to what we believe is worth suffering for. It is connected to what we think happiness finally is.

So if we want change that holds, we cannot merely adjust the outside of life. We have to look at the inner map from which our choices keep coming.

The iLifeChange Experiment is a 40-day incubation designed for this purpose.

The aim is not simply to try harder. Most people have tried harder.

The aim is to exercise the four faculties that make deliberate change possible: awareness, reason, imagination and will.

The Happiness Operating System

Why Happiness Works Like an Operating System

One of the central ideas in DeINCEPTION is that happiness is not just something we feel.

It is something we live by.

Our idea of happiness tells us what is worth wanting. It tells us what counts as success. It tells us what to envy. It tells us what to endure. It tells us what to postpone. It tells us when we have supposedly arrived.

In this sense, happiness works like an operating system. It runs quietly beneath the surface.

And like any operating system, it allows some things to install easily, while other things keep crashing.

Have you ever made a plan that looked good on paper, but somehow did not survive contact with ordinary life?

The old idea of happiness remained in place. The old map remained in place. The old image of the good life remained in place. And so the new habit had nowhere stable to live.

That is why iLifeChange does not begin with external technique. It begins with the inner map.

Where Change Can Begin

The Kinds of Change This Can Serve

You can bring many kinds of desired change into the iLifeChange Experiment.

Health and Care

You may want to change the way you care for your health, body, energy or daily discipline.

Communication and Relationships

You may want to change the way you speak, listen, respond and relate to those closest to you.

Work, Study and Time

You may want to change the way you work, study, lead, create, build or use your time.

Vision and Direction

You may want to stop drifting between good intentions and old habits, and recover a clearer vision for the next season of life.

The specific change may differ from person to person. But the underlying question is the same.

What is moving me?

What idea of happiness am I living from?

What has my life been treating as the good?

And is that map true enough to keep following?

The Origin

Where the 40-Day Experiment Came From

The iLifeChange Experiment did not begin as a product.

It came out of the same search that eventually became DeINCEPTION.

As I explain in the film, one of the great turning points in my own life came through a Chilla Nashini — a 40-day retreat into the wilderness.

That experience forced a question upon me.

What if the life I was living from was not being directed by the truth of happiness, but by an inherited idea of it?

And after that first 40-day immersion, another question followed.

How can a person cultivate a better map of happiness without leaving ordinary life behind?

Because, of course, not everyone can disappear into the wilderness for 40 days. Most of us have work, family, children, obligations, bills to pay and people depending on us.

The Three Titans

Kierkegaard, Kant and Rousseau

In 2017, I returned to the Tasmanian wilderness for another 40-day immersion.

This time, I worked with key texts and questions from Søren Kierkegaard, Immanuel Kant and Jean-Jacques Rousseau.

Not because they agree on everything. They do not.

But because each of them wrestled with some essential part of the human question.

What is truth?

What is freedom?

What is duty?

What is conscience?

What is desire?

What is imagination?

What does it mean to become a self?

What does it mean to choose the good?

From that work, I began to form a practical sequence of 40 daily experiments. Each one designed to exercise one of our highest faculties upon a better vision of life.

That became the iLifeChange Experiment.

A Chilla Nashini at Home

The Aim Is Not to Escape Your Life. The Aim Is to Return to It With a Clearer Map.

You could think of iLifeChange as a kind of Chilla Nashini at home.

Not the same as the wilderness. Not a replacement for silence, solitude or retreat.

But a way to bring the active ingredients of a 40-day formation process into ordinary life.

For 40 days, live or through replays, we spend around 30 to 60 minutes a day in a guided exercise of reflection, meaning, motivation and vision.

Each day builds on the previous day.

Each experiment asks you to look again.

To think again.

To imagine again.

To choose again.

How It Works

The Four Faculties Framework

The iLifeChange Experiment is structured around four faculties: awareness, reason, imagination and will.

These are not merely words. They are the powers through which a person becomes capable of living deliberately.

Awareness icon

Awareness

Awareness helps us know our being. Without awareness, we are governed by what we do not see.

Reason icon

Reason

Reason helps us pursue truth. Without reason, motivation can become blind movement.

Imagination icon

Imagination

Imagination helps us perceive beauty and possibility. Without imagination, we remain trapped inside the obvious.

Will icon

Will

Will helps us choose the good. Without will, insight remains an interesting thought.

Over 40 days, iLifeChange exercises these faculties daily upon your values and vision.

That is how the work moves from concept to practice.

For You If

The iLifeChange Experiment May Be for You If…

  • You do not want DeINCEPTION to remain only an interesting film.
  • You sense that your idea of happiness needs to be examined, not merely defended.
  • You are tired of motivational tricks that do not reach the root of why change fails to hold.
  • You are interested in meaning, self-command, leadership, desire, responsibility and the good life.
  • You are willing to give daily attention to a 40-day process.
  • The question raised by the film already feels uncomfortably personal.

Not For Everyone

Final Invitation

DeINCEPTION Asks What Happiness Is.
iLifeChange Asks What Idea of Happiness Has Been Directing Your Own Life.

And that question matters because the way we imagine happiness shapes almost everything.

What we chase.

What we avoid.

What we tolerate.

What we admire.

What we resent.

What we postpone.

What we call success.

What we call failure.

What we finally become willing to live for.

If you simply want to continue, you are free to do that now.

But if you sense that the question should not remain only on the screen, then iLifeChange is the next step.

For 40 days, we work with the question. Not as entertainment. Not as theory alone. But as practice.

If that is the work you are ready for, add iLifeChange to your order now.

iLifeChange is a reflective and educational experience. It is not medical, psychological, counselling, legal, financial, or crisis advice, and no particular personal outcome is guaranteed.
